The Canadian Dental Care Plan at Mill Ridge Family Dental
At Mill Ridge Family Dental, we are committed to helping our patients access the care they need. The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal government initiative aimed at improving access to oral health services by reducing financial barriers. The plan is available to eligible Canadian residents who do not have private dental benefits and whose adjusted family net income is below $90,000.
While the CDCP provides coverage for many common dental procedures, it is not free dental care in every case. Instead, it helps cover part or all of the cost of your treatment based on your income. Our Milton team is proud to welcome CDCP patients and to help you understand what your coverage includes.

Do You Qualify for the CDCP?
You may be eligible for the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) if you:
- Are a Canadian resident with a valid health card.
- Do not have access to private dental insurance through an employer, pension, or other benefits plan.
- Have an annual household income of less than $90,000.
- Have filed your most recent tax return.
Coverage is based on your household income. Eligible Canadians with a household income below $70,000 may receive up to 100% coverage for covered services, while those with incomes between $70,000 and $89,999 may qualify for partial coverage.
What Services Are Covered
The CDCP may help with the cost of a variety of services when recommended by a licensed dental provider. These can include:
- Preventive care: cleanings (scaling), sealants, and fluoride treatments
- Diagnostic services: examinations and x-rays
- Restorative services: fillings
- Endodontic services: root canal treatments
- Prosthodontic services: complete and partial removable dentures
- Periodontal services: deep scaling for gum health
- Oral surgery: extractions and related surgical procedures
Please note that not all services are covered and limitations may apply. Some major services, such as crowns and oral surgery, may require preauthorization from the plan before treatment begins. Coverage frequency and details are available through the CDCP Guide.
