Ending Tooth Pain and Saving Your Tooth
Few things disrupt your day like a severe toothache. When the soft tissue inside a tooth, called the pulp, becomes infected or inflamed, it can cause intense pain and, if left untreated, lead to serious complications. Root canal therapy is the treatment that puts an end to that pain while rescuing the tooth itself.
Despite its reputation, a modern root canal is a comfortable, routine procedure, often no more involved than getting a filling. At Mill Ridge Family Dental, our goal is always to save your natural tooth whenever possible, because nothing works quite as well as the tooth you were born with. With an in-house endodontist and Dr. Sinan's experience in root canal treatment, Milton patients receive expert care from a team they already trust.

What Is a Root Canal
Inside every tooth is a soft core of nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue known as the pulp. When decay, a crack, or injury allows bacteria to reach this pulp, it can become infected and inflamed, causing pain and threatening the tooth.
A root canal is the procedure that treats this problem. During treatment, the infected or damaged pulp is carefully removed, the inside of the tooth is cleaned and disinfected, and the space is sealed to prevent further infection. The tooth is then restored, usually with a crown, to bring back its strength and function. The name refers to the natural canals inside the roots of your tooth that are cleaned during the process. In short, a root canal removes the source of the pain and lets you keep your tooth.
